Start by finely chopping up three crab sticks, als known as surimi. This should be enough for two to three California sushi rolls.
Note: crab sticks are not actually made from crab. Usually they’re made from pulverized white fish, starch, artificial flavors, sodium and sometimes MSG (monosodium glutamate) to enhance the flavor.
In itself there’s nothing wrong with enjoying crab sticks in sushi. But if you’re looking for authenticity or nutricional value, you’re better off using real crab meat, which is much more expensive. Or use canned crab meat. Also not really cheap, but at least it’s real crab.
Mix the crab stick pieces with one teaspoon of mascarpone, one teaspoon of mayonnaise and (optionally) two shakes of Knorr Aromat seasoning mix.
Use a fork to mix the ingredients. But don’t mash, just mix.
